Holyhead Coastguard

Holyhead Coastguard is located on Holy Island at the north west corner of the Isle of Anglesey. They operate on both VHF Marine Channels. The antennas and transmitters are remotely located with the MF Antenna being located at South Stack. All are land line controlled with the exception of the VHF Transmitter/Receiver on The Skerries which has a microwave link.

These photographs were all taken on 1st July 2001.

All pictures are © Robert Maskill G4PYR or Susan Maskill and may only be used with our permission.

The visit to take the photographs was arranged in advance. When my wife and I arrived the four persons on the watch were all busy with a major and several minor incidents in progress. It was a privilege to see first hand the professional manner in which the United Kingdom Coastguard operate and the assistance they gave to all that requested it.

I would like to record my thanks to those on watch who all made us most welcome despite them being exceptionally busy and who gave me every assistance in the taking of the photographs which was much appreciated.
